DOROTHY PENNER AWARD

The 2007 “Miss Dorothy” Heart Award

Has another member helped you and your business? Show your appreciation by nominating that member for the “Miss Dorothy” Heart award.

Dorothy Penner was a Master Bridal Consultant TM diagnosed with cancer in November 1996; she was given six months to live.  She set a goal of being alive for the 1997 annual conference; not only was she alive, she participated in the conference.  She lost her battle after more than two years but still inspires all who knew her.  At the 1997 conference, she presented the first “Miss Dorothy” Heart Award.  Contributions from members allow the “Heart” and scholarships to be awarded in her memory, carrying on her legacy.

What does this have to do with North Carolina Membership?

Well, for one you can nominate a peer that would love to attend the Annual Conference!  Secondly at each of our meetings a jar will be placed in the front of the room to collect donations for the fund – no pressure! J

If you are interested in nominating someone from our state – or another state you can visit www.bridalassn.com for a form to fill out or just e-mail me and I will send you one.

DOROTHY PENNER SCHOLARSHIP

If you are a Novice member you can apply for this scholarship – and attend the Annual Conference in Orlando, FL by going to www.bridalassn.com or e-mail me and I can send you the form.

Requirements: Must be a Novice Member, you must submit a copy of your business plan, complete the very small application form and on one blank sheet write an essay explaining how you think participating in an annual conference will benefit you as you start your business.

I really do hope that each member takes full advantage of the wonderful benefits our Association offers us!

STATE MEETINGS

Our July Novice seminar has been cancelled, the meeting however will be rescheduled and I will send out an e-mail later in the month of July.

We are in desperate need of someone to set up a meeting in their town.  If you know of a great venue that would let us come and visit their location please let me know!  I can help get speakers and activities, but I would love for the members to find venues in their areas to host the meetings.

We were also asked to visit a facility for a weekend trip in October in the Asheville area.  More information will follow shortly.

Text Box: If there’s anything new in your business or personal life that you’d like for our members to know about. Please e-mail me

STATE NEWSLETTERS

One of the requirements to climbing the ladder in education within the Association is writing news articles and having them printed.  Feel free to forward me any articles.  I will print as many as I can in each newsletter.

New Members

North Carolina membership began at 44 members when I first took over as State Coordinator; we are now at 51 members, and increase of only 7, although the Association is happy, I am not.

This number does not include over 30 current Novice members.  I would love to see our Novice members become consultants.

If you are a Novice member, please contact me and I will show you the path to full Consultant level!  I am here to assist as much as I can!
